Abraham Lincoln, shot on April 14, was dead by the time these editions went to press. The columns are all edged in black as a sign of mourning and speculate as to the future of the country. War news still appears from the South, the most important items being the capture of Raleigh, North Carolina and the impending surrender of Joseph Johnston's Army of Tennessee.
