Four Legal Content Letters Circa 1800's
Four Legal Content Letters Circa 1800's Four letters, total 7pp., addressed to a Mr. John Leamy, an attorney practicing in Philadelphia. All with good legal content regarding court cases related to public debt, disposition of public lands, and the Louisiana Purchase. A letter dated August 6, 1809 delivered from "Bordeaux", via The Abigail, in part: "We wrote several times to Mr. Fulwar Skipwith respecting your claim for the Wooding Sims, the only answer we obtained was that he had informed you of the State of the business & we must suppose from the annexed circular that your debt has not been included in the Sum payd for Louisiana & that being the case we think the best that can be done is to strive to have the Sum included in our public debt & sell the capital at 40 acre lots, we believe this case be practiced, if the clause has been inscribed on another footing & without your consent, we think you have every right to claim against a foreigner..." Worthy of further research. All letters in near fine condition and very legible.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
