This collection includes: April 15th with bold wide black “mourning” borders (morning edition announcing the death of the President, wear and loss at folds, still good), April 17th with “mourning” borders (follow-up story with details, excellent), April 28th featuring story about John Wilkes Booth's capture and death (very fine condition), plus the April 10th issue announcing Confederate General Robert E. Lee's surrender to Union General Ulysses S. Grant (very fine). These issues cover the two most important and historic events of April, 1865. Varying degrees of wear and separations at folds, affecting text in places, thus sold “as is”. Overall condition ranges from good to very fine. (4 items)
