This Chinese folding screen consists of four parts and was made of a hard wood with painted silk. On a black background a scene of birds with finely elaborate plumage perched on a blossoming peony tree are visible in white pigments. The motives inside are surrounded by a silk brocade frame. The latter is decorated with flowers and shou characters in blue, orange and gold. Four finely engraved brass escutcheons can be found at the top of the screen and the back is covered with paper.

The folding screen is in good condition with slight signs of wear consistent with age. Small notches on the wooden frame and tears to paper on reverse can be seen. The painting is undamaged. The dimension of each fold is 91.5 x 44.5-47 cm and the total width measures 183 cm.
