Four Color #9 Donald Duck (Dell, 1942) CGC VF+ 8.5 Cream to off-white pages. Not only does this key issue have Carl Barks' first comic art on the comic-book Donald Duck, it's also significant as an attempt by Disney to determine whether original Donald stories written for comic books would succeed (Walt Disney's Comics and Stories featured strip reprints at the time). This book used to be ranked among the 20 most valuable comics, above the likes of More Fun #52! While it's somewhat more common than some Golden Age keys, note below how very few copies have received a higher grade than this one. Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $6,370; VF/NM 9.0 value = $10,935. CGC census 3/07: 2 in 8.5, 5 higher.

Shipping: Comics - Slabbed (certified) (view shipping information)
