<B>Founding Father John Jay Document Signed</B></I> one page with docketing on verso, 13" x 7.25", partially printed, New York City, April 9, 1796, names Jacob Swits a captain in Albany militia, countersigned by Secretary Lewis A. Scott, affixed with paper and wax State Seal. John Jay (1745 - 1829) served in the Continental Congress, co-authored the <I>Federalist Papers</B></I>, negotiated the Treaty of 1794 with Great Britain, was first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court and, later, became Governor of New York. A nice, clean early military commission.
