This is Fostoria's Moonstone water goblet in Taupe--a rich amber color. It is 6 1/2 inches tall. It is Pattern #2977.<p>

The Moonstone pattern is typified by a series of flat stones over the large bowl. These stones are slightly pressed in somewhat as a "thumbprint" is. It has a knop stem. The goblet is blown/molded glass.<p>

This goblet is in excellent condition!<p>

The following is an excerpt from the Fostoria Glass Society of America site:<p>

The Fostoria Glass Company began in Fostoria, Ohio, on December 15, 1887, at a site chosen for natural gas in the area available at low cost. However, since the field was short-lived, Fostoria moved to Moundsville, West Virginia in 1891, where gas,coal, and other resources were close by.<p>

At first, Fostoria made pressed ware, but early in the 20th century, Fostoria realized the importance of developing fine quality blown stemware. In 1924 Fostoria was one of the first to advertise nationally and to produce complete crystal dinner services. It did custom work for the government in addition to their regular lines of blown, etched and pressed glass and sold glass to the White House. Fostoria was once the largest maker of handmade glassware in the United States.<p>

The American pattern, introduced in 1915, is its most famous. It is still produced by Lancaster Colony (who bought the Fostoria company in 1983), making it the most successful pattern in the history of glass making. Fostoria's business peaked in 1950 with over 8 million ...
