Here is a sparkling, clear Fostoria lead crystal aperitif!<p>

Standing 5 1/4 inches high, it is 2 3/8 inches across the top and has a 2 1/8-inch base. It is blown glass, and the stem has been applied to both the bowl and the base.<p>

Although I have been unable to precisely define this quilted diamond pattern, I can say that this is extremely close to Fostoria's Heritage-Clear pattern (Pattern 2887) and the description of the champagne/tall sherbet of that pattern. The difference is in the stem--Heritage has a mid-stem knop, and this pattern does not: instead, the stem slopes down and outward to the base in panels.<p>

The price shown is for an individual piece. However, I have 12 available--all in near mint condition. I have priced the entire set at $130.<p>

The Fostoria Glass Company began in Fostoria, Ohio, on December 15, 1887, at a site chosen for natural gas in the area available at low cost. However, since the field was short-lived, Fostoria moved to Moundsville, West Virginia in 1891, where gas,coal, and other resources were close by.<p>

At first, Fostoria made pressed ware, but early in the 20th century, Fostoria realized the importance of developing fine quality blown stemware. In 1924 Fostoria was one of the first to advertise nationally and to produce complete crystal dinner services. It did custom work for the government ...
