This candy jar is a great example of Fostoria's coin glass. It is a very happy light blue color! Blue is one of the most highly valued colors for coin glass. The Fostoria Glass Company of Moundsville, West Virginia made coin glass between 1958 and 1972.

The jar with lid is 6 5/16 inches high and 4 inches at its widest across the top. Each of the coins appears in panels on both the lid and the jar--the seal and torch style coins as interspersed. Each of the panels on the lid is 1 1/3 inches wide; each of the panels on the jar is 1 5/8 inches wide.

The lid has an inset into the bottom of the jar. The top edges of the bottom of the jar are scalloped.

The lid sports six (6) facets which parallel this overall panelled effect. The facets converge into a point on the tip of the nob. At the base of the nob is a hexagonal "plateau" before the downward slope of the lid begins. The base shows a many-pointed star.

This piece is made of high-quality molded glass and is in excellent condition. The mold line is integrated within the overall pattern of panels.

This is a great find for a Fostoria collector!
