First edition, limited to 950 numbered copies. Two Octavo volumes (9” x 6”). Xxvii, 236; viii, 237 -473 pages. Eighteen maps and plates, portraits. Original blue fine-ribbed cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine. A bit of bumping and light wear to the bindings, hinges cracked but still sound. Altogether, a very good set. Housed in a quarter morocco book-backed slipcase with the spine in compartments with four raised bands, and tooled in gilt.
