This is a men’s wristwatch, which was developed by the Swiss watch maker Fortis in cooperation with the German artist and cosmonaut Andora. The watch carries the title ‘Meine Lebenszeit’ (= my lifetime). It displays a globe on the dial as well as two emblems of the Space Exploration Andora. On the rotating bezel are the words ‘Fühle, Staune, Singe / Lebe, Springe, Tanze / Gebe, Nehme, Teile / Wähle, Liebe, Gehe‘ inscribed, which are supposed to aid in ‘informing in moments of decision’ (annotation by the artist in the catalogue). The watch has got a laser-engraved titan wristband and an additional leather band. A 8” screen is integrated into the lid of the case, showing a digital image series of the life of the artist. Andora devoted the edition to the aviator cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov, his last instructor on the way to the cosmonaut’s diploma. The edition ‘Meine Lebenszeit’ is limited to a number of 52 and the present one is numbered 13.

The watch is stored in the original case with screen, remote and power supply. Additionally, a catalogue stamped and certified with guarantee of the manufacturer Fortis, numbered ‘13/52’ and signed ‘andora 2011 ©’. The watch is in very good condition with hardly any traces of wear. The case displays slight traces of use. The watch was fully functional during a short in house test; however, Auctionata does for guarantee accuracy and repeat functionality. The dimensions of the watch are 44 mm (watch case diameter), 10 mm (height), ca. 22 cm (strap length) and 20 mm (lugs width). The weight of the watch with titan band is 151 g. The dimensions of the case are 25.7 x 34.7 x 9.5 cm (height x width x depth).

Andora (b. 1958)

Grown up as Andreas Hoge in Berlin-East, in the course of his career the artist, pop art painter and cosmonaut put on the pseudonym Andora. Accused of preparing for the flight from the GDR, he was expatriated to Berlin-West. He studied social education from 1980 until 1984. Afterwards, he started creating his first paintings that were of neo-expressionist manner. Later, conceptual installations and video techniques succeeded. Andora left the traditional canvas as a painting surface in the 90s and entered the three-dimensional reality with his pictorial language of bizarre creatures of a comic-like world and painted everyday objects. He accepted various commissions by large corporations, for example by WEST. This culminated in painting a Russian Proton rocket, which was then shot into space. Today, Andora lives and works in Berlin.
