Mayers & Bro. in Fort Smith and pen signed by M. Mayers and printed on brown paper. They were also redeemable at several other emporiums in Arkansas as well as by two stores in Texas - Alexander & Allen in Sherman and J.M. Smoot in Denton. Also, three of these pieces presented here were redeemable in the Cherokee Nation. The $1 note is of the variety with the backwards "$" sign in the denomination. This scrip is also listed in the Medlar Texas reference.
From The William A.
