Weld County, 1866-1869, then PO moved to Julesburg. Cover sent to John Kurtz in Boston. Weak strike. Target killer on 3 cent Washington stamp. U.S. military post from 1864 to 1871, one mile west of Julesburg. Named after John Sedgwick, who was a major general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Established as Camp Rankin in 1864 because of an increase in skirmishes with Native Americans from the Plains.
