Fore's Moving Panorama, or Optical Illusions Fore's Moving Panorama, or Optical Illusions Giving Lif
Fore's Moving Panorama, or Optical Illusions Giving Life and Activity to Inanimate Objects, Published by S.W. Fore's, London, 1833. A set of ten phenakistoscope discs as invented by Joseph Plateau in 1832. When spun on an axis and viewed with a mirror, the drawings become animated. Discs include color renderings of a Scotsman, bassist, dancing couple, cook with frying pan, man pumping water, frogs leaping, nose getting amputated, man swallowing a marble, man ringing bell, and scampering rats. What a collection! Housed in a sturdy card folder with marbleized covers. Light soiling and wear to discs, splits on cover's spine. Overall Fine condition. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
