Forbidden Planet Commander Adams (Leslie Nielsen) Reproduction Blaster Prop
Forbidden Planet Commander Adams(Leslie Nielsen) Reproduction Blaster Prop - Although produced and released almost 60 years ago, the classic Si-Fi epic "Forbidden Planet" (1956), continues to influence filmmakers to this day. Of course one of the most obvious fans was Gene Roddenberry who admittedly patterned a great deal of his "Star Trek" on this masterpiece, including the Teleportation Machine. Also his use of phasers, and laser weaponry is heavily influenced by the weapons used in "Forbidden Planet". Perhaps the most recognizable and iconic is the Blaster Gun, used by the crew of the Starship C-57D. This Blaster design became the standard to be used for virtually all futuristic and Sci-Fi films and TV series ever since. it was originally designed by MGM's Arthur Lonergan and Buddy Gillespie and then crafted by Glen Robinson, Joe Zomar and soon to be special effects legends A.D. Flowers Logan Frazee and Dean Pearson. Perhaps the Blaster is best known for its use when Commander Adams (Leslie Nielsen) gives his own Blaster to Robby the Robot to use, and then again in the famous "ID Monster" battle, and when Commander Adams blasts away a "tiger" to save the alluring Altaira Morbius (Anne Francis). This is a truly magnificent detailed and "working" reproduction of Commander Adam's Blaster (this design is specifically for the blaster seen in the Robby the Robot sequence). Cast from original mold designs, it is in excellent, if not mint condition, considering it was crafted at least 30 years ago. It has also been internally wired and connected to the external trigger button on the handle, so that the Blaster pulsates a bright light through the laser head and tip. This magnificent painstakingly crafted Blaster reproduction comes from legendary Jerry Neeley's collection. Neeley was the well known film historian, writer, collector and owner of the famous "Jerry's Video" in Los Feliz, CA. Customers, collectors and throngs of directors, writers and industry people would come from around the world to talk to Jerry, whose knowledge and memory of film, especially when it came to Sci-Fi, was encyclopedic, and also to visit his famous collection. Also included is a Letter of Provenience from Jerry Neeley's widow and co-owner of his various video and memorabilia shops. Pulsating light works, and includes an installed 9V battery so you can begin attacking tigers and ID Monsters right away! Blaster is approx 10"x6".
