<B> Forbes N. Britton Autograph Letter Signed,</B></I> "<I>F Britton</B></I>". One page, 8.0" x 10.0", Comargo, Mexico May 4, 1847, to Captain H. Toulman, Comargo. Virginian, West Pointer and Mexican War veteran Forbes Britton settled in Corpus Christi, Texas to pursue a life of business and politics. A proponent of rail construction, Forbes served in the State Senate, was an associate of Sam Houston's, and was even commissioned a brigadier general while serving as Houston's Chief of Staff. Britton's death in 1861 precluded any Civil War service. The Mexican War letter offered here is a brief communique and reads, "<I>I will send a clerk to assignate the Sup't but I wish the Q Master to understand that the Army does not deliver the stores on the other side but the articles should be Rec'vd by the Q Master from my sheds by that Dept transported but after leaving my shed I cannot have any control over them</B></I>".
