For the Love of Mike (First National, 1927). Insert (14" X 36"). Legend has it that when this film wrapped shooting in New York the company was flat broke, so director Frank Capra had to hitchhike back to Los Angeles. That must be where the experience of his travel came into play in his famous "It Happened One Night" hitchhiking scene. This early silent comedy stars a very young Claudette Colbert in her very first screen role and was only the young Capra's fourth directing job. This lovely insert appears to have been rolled at one time and then flattened, causing several folds. There is minor silverfish eating in a couple of spots in one of the lower folds. There is staining in the lower right corner and minor foxing in areas of the border. This very rare piece would be greatly enhanced by simple restoration work. Fine-.
