Offered in this lot is a Vintage Folk Art Corner Shelf, Atlas Blakstix Blasting Powder Company Crate, circa 1912-1960. Most likely made of pine, the most plentiful of lumber trees during the pre-world war years, this Folk Art was made out of a wooden crate used to store/transport up to fifty (50) pounds of explosive blasting powder. The Atlas Blasting Powder existed from 1912 until renamed in 1961 to Atlas Chemical Industries. In true Folk Art style, the front face has a scalloped top, face painted in a soft creamy yellow, the perimeter framed in light blue. The interior is accessed by an unpainted wooden sewing thread spool, the interior features three shelves, the interior is also painted in creamy yellow. The corner shelf is in overall nice condition, a nice folk art piece for a country kitchen or pantry. Measures 11.25W x 17.25"H x 6.5"D, weight 3lb, 10oz.
