1835-Dated, Folding Map and Tourist Guide Book to Niagara Falls, By Horatio A Parsons. Buffalo, Very Fine.

This original period Folding Map and Guide is fully titled, “A Guide to Travelers Visiting the Falls of Niagara, Containing Much Interesting and Important Information Respecting the Falls and Vicinity, Accompanied by Maps”. By Horatio A Parsons. Buffalo, 1835. Published by Oliver G. Steele. "Second Edition Greatly Enlarged". It measures about 3.75" x 5.75" and contains 96 pages, plus a Pair of Maps on a single folding sheet, engraved by J. G. Darly. One map is titled, "Map of Niagara Falls and Vicinity" and the other is titled, "Map of Niagara River and Parts Adjacent". This important, very early Guide to the Falls contains extensive information of interest to the Tourist visiting the Falls. It includes descriptions of the various locations and Natural Formations, Mineral Springs, Local Indians, the Museum, Monuments and man-made Curiosities, the Village of Niagara Falls, the means of reaching the Falls and charges for transportation, distances for the traveler, etc.
This early Tourist Guide volume is bound in its’ original, full Fed Leather Covers, with gold gilt lettering on the front board that reads, "Book of Niagara Falls". The binding is sound and intact with some light edge wear and soiling and is quite attractive overall. The interior pages are tight and complete, with scattered foxing throughout. The Folding Map is printed on a very delicate paper stock and measures about 14.25" x 12" being generally well preserved, with scattered light foxing and 2 short tears at the insertion points.
