The presentation card reads: "This banner of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics flew 2,836,864 miles in the U.S. Space Shuttle Challenger / Mission 41-B / February 3-February 11, 1984". It is signed by the president of the AIAA and by Vance Brand, Commander of STS-41-B. The flag was presented to Dr. S. N. Stein, one of the Chief Medical Officers with the space program and former head of the Submarine and Diving Medicine Branch of the Naval Research Institute (where he tested the Mercury 7 using submarine atmospheric parameters).
