ALS signed “F. N.,” eight pages on two sets of adjoining sheets, August 3, 1847. Letter to the wife of Edward Strutt on the occasion of her husband’s reelection to Parliament. In part: “I with great dignity, captured the bulletins, & rush out, singing an ode in honour of Mercury, the God of Elections…let us rejoice to see our late enemy Mackworth crushed like a pancake in Liverpool, &…John Manners, whose principles I pity & whose politics I despise.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, a light notation to the top of the first page, and some light scattered foxing and a trivial tear to the bottom of the second page. Accompanied by a presentation folder.
