TLS, two black-bordered pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 7.25, September 23, 1924. Letter to political activist and author Harriet Taylor Upton, in part: "I have not been very well for the past few days and have delayed answering your kind letter of September 13th. Later, perhaps, when I am able to devote some time to the collection of Mr. Harding's letters, I may ask you to lend me those from your files. I will not ask you to send them now as I do not have a place here where I can protect them nor have them copied and returned to you. I very much regret that I do not have any autographed photographs of Mr. Harding. Of course there was a demand for them and I rather recklessly sent them out until the few on hand were entirely disposed of. Later, when my papers are again accessible, if I find one, I shall be glad to remember your request." In fine condition, with faint paperclip impressions to the top edges, and light stains to the second page from old adhesive residue on the back. A somber letter that touches upon the death of her husband, and which was written two months before her own passing.
