Flintlock iron barrel blunderbuss coachman’s size antique short gun, circa 1740’s to 1780’s with spring loaded bayonet, by W. Smart of Glouchester, approx. 1-1/4” bore at flared muzzle, 19-1/2” overall with a 14” barrel, brown patina, wood stock, brass trigger guard, butt plate and ramrod ferrules. This gun is in overall very good condition showing a dark patina to the barrel with scattered pin prick pitting, lock plate is marked “W. Smart, Glouchester”, spring bayonet ismounted on the top of the barrel and is matching in color of patina to the barrel and in good working order; the stock is in overall good to very good condition showing scattered nicks and mars from carry and storage with a crack on theright side of the understock beneath the hammer that is confined by the trigger guard and lock plate. A really nice appearing blunderbuss with horn-tipped wood ramrod. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
