Flintlock boar hunting type sword with ornately carved stag grip in Germanic style. The blade marked “Reclc Facien Do Niminem Ticmeas” and an inscription on the front portion of the blade reads “Martin Bernardini Tirenze 1563”. The inscription and date are too early for the date of mfg. of this sword/pistol and it may be a commemoration or remembrance of an event. The metal surfaces remain in good condition showingsome light pitting and erosion with good etching and the back portion of the blade is reinforced to accept the Flintlock mechanism. The blade measures nearly 15” and the flintlock mechanism is about 5-7/8” in length with barrel approx 4-1/16” and 34 cal smooth. The grip is beautifully carved with a stag and doe showing acorns. Generally very good condition overall. From an old N.Y. collector’s estate. Est.;$1,500-$3,000.
