Flintlock Fowler
Flintlock Fowler. 45" barrel of approximately 60 caliber which has British proofs and London marked about 2" forward of the tang. The lock is marked "Ketland & Co." in two lines and is missing the frizzen, pan, and spring. The full length stock is in very good condition and is pin fastened. There is an old dutchman repair in front of the first ramrod ferrule. The buttplate, trigger guard, ramrod ferrules, sideplate (has been repaired) and 2" long shield type inlay at top of wrist are all brass with nice patina (except repaired area of sideplate). There is a design which looks like 3 ears of corn with husks on both the buttplate and the area behind the hammer. The ramrod is missing. This piece has many of the features of a chief's grade flintlock trade gun. Most definitely worthy of a restoration.
Estimated Value$800 - 1,500.
