The author discusses the history of the Pasco mint as represented by three periods: Initial Period (1825-1840), the Opening Period (1841-1845) and the Final Years (1855-1858). The author shows example coinage typical for each period covered. The Arequipa mint history is represented by five periods: early background, political background, the Decree of 1835, and the Final Years. Example coinage for each period is also shown. An extensive bibliography and an Appendix covering additional information on each mint are also included.

The author discusses in detail the history of the Sol denomination and its design evolution through six different periods: initial conversion to a decimal system (1864-1868), the Interim Period (1868-1879), War of the Pacific (1879-1887), Recovery (1888-1892), Fall of Silver (1893-1917), and Post War (1917-1935). In each period, the author presents detailed photos of die varieties and types. The coins are then presented in a date/assayer run with information on rarity according to grade.
