<B>Flagstaff, AZ</B></I> - $5 1929 Ty. 1 <B>The First NB</B></I> Ch. # 11120<BR> While large notes from this northern Arizona community are occasionally available due to their survival in the Snowflake hoard, Series 1929 examples are quite another matter. For generations this was the "stopper" bank for collectors seeking to complete a collection from Arizona's eleven issuers, as just one example was known, likely because of this institution's very small issue before it closed its doors forever in January of 1931. Long in the collection of Peter Huntoon, that piece sold last year at auction when the Huntoon holdings were dispersed for a touch under $20,000. The cataloguer at the time mentioned that the note was likely to remain unique forever. Well, forever has now come with the somewhat amazing discovery of another small Flagstaff note, a rather attractive piece which easily grades <B>Fine.</B></I> It was recently found after being used to pay for goods at a small rural gas station in northern Arizona. It's discovery truly makes this a miracle of survival and offers the chance for a second fortunate Arizona collector to complete a set of Series 1929 Arizona notes.
