<B>Five Ulysses S. Grant <I>Cartes de Visite</B></I>.</B></I> 18th President and leading Union general in the Civil War, Ulysses S. Grant is the focus of this group of photographs. Five CDVs, all from life, feature the great man and tactician in uniform. Oddly enough, none of them feature Grant with his hands thrust in his pocket, as he was oft known to do! However, each photograph shows Grant in his iconic double-breasted officer's coat. One even features him in a regulation hat. This picture was either taken after a long battle with the enemy or a bottle of whiskey! Included is the image taken by Mathew Brady that appeared on much of Grant's campaign material in 1868. Three of the five images offered feature Brady or Anthony / Brady imprints. Brady photographs are wildly popular among both Civil War and political collectors.
