<B>Five Seth Low Autograph Letters Signed,</B></I> all approximately 5” x 8”, four on various letterheads, 11 pages, New York City, 1877 - 1890, to a James T. Maury, greeted as “<I>Jimmy</B></I>”, n.p. Mostly cordial thank you notes written in a familiar style appropriate among friends. Very fine condition. Seth Low (1850 - 1916) was born into a family of merchant princes. Rich, but by no means idle, Low was a dynamic figure in Gilded Age of New York. He was a founder of Columbia University, a diplomat, Mayor of Brooklyn and Mayor of New York City. Included is a sixth letter to Maury of like size and content, but written by a William G. Low.
