<B>Five Newspapers Relating to Bruno Hauptmann, Convicted Murderer of the Lindbergh Baby</B></I>. A fascinating collection of newspapers dated between February 13 and February 15, 1935, detailing the conviction and sentencing of Bruno Hauptmann, infamous kidnapper and murderer of Charles Augustus Lindbergh II, the 20-month old son of the Spirit of St. Louis pilot, Charles Lindbergh, and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Eventually, Hauptmann was convicted of the murder, and sentenced to death by electrocution. The sentence was carried out on April 3, 1936, when Hauptmann was executed in an electric chair nicknamed “Old Smokey.” This unique collection includes vintage newspapers from the three days surrounding the conviction and sentencing of Hauptmann, and include:<BR>1. <B><I>New York Journal</B></I></B></I>, February 13, 1935. Headline reads “Bruno Fate in Jury’s Hands; Judge’s Charge Hits Accused”. Includes photo of Hauptmann on front cover. The next two days would reveal Hauptmann’s ultimate fate. This paper is in good condition, with chipping at the fold and some toning.<BR>2.<B> </B></I><B><I>New York Daily Mirror</B></I></B></I>, February 14, 1935. Headline reads boldly “Guilty Death for Hauptmann”. Hauptmann was sentenced to the electric chair on this day. Includes photo taken at the moment the verdict was read on the front cover. Very good condition, with some fading and browning of the text, and some wear at the spine where the paper folds.<BR>3. <B><I>Hunterdon County Democrat</B></I></B></I>, February 14, 1935. Published in Flemington, New Jersey. Headline reads “Hauptmann Sentenced to Die Week of March 18 for Lindbergh Murder”. Includes photo of Hauptmann on front cover. Good condition, with noticeable chipping and some separation at the folds.<B><BR></B></I>4. <B><I>New York American</B></I></B></I>, February 14, 1935. Headline reads “Hauptmann Guilty, Must Die in Chair.” Includes photo of Hauptmann on front cover. Good condition, with noticeable wear at all edges, especially the fold.<BR>5. <B><I>New York Journal</B></I></B></I>, February 15, 1935. Headline reads “Bruno to Death Cell Today.” Includes three photos of Hauptmann on front cover, both outside of and inside of his death row prison cell.
