Very good condition with folds and some acidification. <BR>Physicist and reformer Alexander Dallas Bache (1806-1867) was the great-grandson of Benjamin Franklin. A West Point graduate and veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he was appointed Superintendent of the United States Coast Survey, one of the nation's leading scientific institutions, in 1843.
