<B>Five Classic Theodore Sturgeon Science Fiction Books.</B></I> <B><I>E Pluribus Unicorn</B></I></B></I> <B>Signed First Edition.</B></I> (New York: Abelard Press, 1953), first edition, 276 pages, tan cloth with black lettering on spine, 8vo (5.5" x 8"), dust jacket. Inscribed and signed "<I>For Jack Chandler, in many important ways, my shipmate. Theodore Sturgeon</B></I>" on the front free endpaper. There is an ex-libris bookplate affixed to the front paste down with the name A. Bertram Chandler, presumably the same "Jack Chandler" to whom the book is inscribed and signed. Interestingly, Chandler was an Australian science fiction writer who wrote over 40 novels, most of which were in the Rim World or John Grimes series. The book is in good condition, with noticeable wear to the edges and corners, and slight chipping of the dust jacket on the spine. All said, this is a most delightful association copy of this great Sturgeon short story collection.<BR><B><I>A Way Home</B></I></B></I> <B>Signed First Edition.</B></I> (New York: Funk and Wagnalls Co., 1955), first edition, 333 pages, orange cloth with black lettering on spine, 8vo (5.5" x 8.5"), dust jacket. Inscribed and signed "<I>To Bill Hanrahan, with warm regards and thanks for a painless microphonic trauma. Mellow-trauma, that is. Theodore Sturgeon</B></I>" on the front free endpaper. The volume is in good condition, with some edge and corner wear. Text is clean. Dust jacket has noticeable chipping on the edges and corners, and liquid staining on the back cover.<BR><B><I>More Than Human</B></I></B></I> <B>First Edition Review Copy.</B></I> (New York: Farrar, Straus and Young, 1953), first edition, first printing, 233 pages, half-cloth binding with white lettering on spine, 8vo (5.5" x 8"), dust jacket (in protective mylar). Sturgeon concentrated most of his literary output on short stories, but when he turned his efforts to novels, he was a success as well. <I>More Than Human,</B></I> a fixup of three novellas, won the 1953 International Fantasy Award and was critically lauded upon its release. This copy is very good, with just a little edge wear. The dust jacket is stamped on the front flap, "<I>REVIEW COPY The Courier Journal</B></I>" and shows some general edge wear. The text is clean and jacket color is bright. Review copies of 1950s science fiction novels are scarce.<BR><B><I>A Touch of Strange</B></I></B></I> <B>First Edition.</B></I> (New York: Doubleday and Co., 1958), first edition, 262 pages, yellow cloth with black lettering on spine, 8vo (5.75" x 8.5"), dust jacket (in protective mylar). Deckled fore-edge. Wonderful short-story collection, full of Sturgeon's trademark wit and characterization. This copy is very good, with only slight edge wear.<BR><B><I>The Golden Helix</B></I></B></I> <B>Book Club Edition.</B></I> (New York: Doubleday and Co., 1979), book club edition, 247 pages, gray paper boards with orange lettering on spine, 8vo (5.75" x 8.5"), dust jacket (in protective mylar). Deckled fore-edge. This copy is very good, with only the slightest edge wear and light pencil scribbling on the front free endpaper. Ten more wonderful short stories to sweeten this magnificent lot of Sturgeon material.
