1) 1888 Arizona Co-op Mercantile Inst., Woodruff, Arizona Territory. Fish was an important Mormon. He helped his father build the Nauvoo Temple in Illinois. After Joseph Smith's assignation they were forced to move. In 1850 he crossed the plains in a wagon and headed for Salt Lake with his parents. At thirteen his family settled in Parowan, Utah where he stayed for 25 years. He was a school teacher, farmer, freighter, lawyer, and ran a saw mill. In 1878 he moved to Snowflake, Arizona and ran the Arizona Co-op Mercantile Institution. When he married his fourth wife he was accused of polygamy and fled Arizona to Mexico to start religious colonies there. Life was harsh and he returned to Snowflake and was made superintendent of the ACMI. He would move back and fourth between Arizona and Mexico, but was arrested again in 1905 for polygamy. He paid his $400 fine after four months in jail and was released. Later in life he wrote several books on the Arizona Territory, was a post master, and justice of the peace.
