British soldier (1788–1855) and 1st Baron Raglan whose failure to deliver orders with sufficient clarity caused the fateful Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava. ALS, one page both sides, 4.25 x 6.5, July 25, 1842. Letter to Captain George Talbot, explaining that Lord Hill would not recommend Mr. Jarvis's son for a commission. Matted and framed a bio and glass on both sides to an overall size of 13 x 12. In fine condition, with writing showing through from opposing sides.
