First Year Production Winchester Model 74 Semi-Automatic Rifle, #13653, .22 Short cal., 24" barrel, blued finish. One-piece pistol grip walnut stock, checkered steel buttplate, and sling swivels. Barrel features a silver beaded blade front sight, "U"-notched rear sight with elevator. Receiver with a side scope mount and J.C. Higgins 4x scope. Scope with a blued finish and fine crosshair reticle. Rifle rates in good to very good condition overall. Trigger guard retains little finish, otherwise much of the blue remains, which shows toning from age. Barrel and receiver with general specks of frosting. Factory lettering is clear. Wood is sound, with scattered small to medium-sized blemishes from handling and use; there are no chips or cracks. Color and finish do not appear original and there are a few spots of thinning which are most noticeable at the forend, heel, and toe. Exterior of the scope shows light age and wear. Reticle is straight but the optics are cloudy. Action operates smoothly. Bore is bright, no frosting or pitting; rifling shows moderate wear but is still clearly visible. Mfg'd in 1939, first year of production. Est.: $200-$300. (C&R)
