First Year Production Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle
Manufactured in 1892, the first year of production. Blade front sight, adjustable rear sight, and full length magazine. The rifle has the standard two line barrel address on the upper left side,"38 W.C.F." at the breech and the three line maker, model patent info on the upper tang. Later production proofs are present on top of the receiver and barrel. (Most likely factory re-barreled) The serial number is marked on the bottom front of the frame. Mounted with a smooth forearm with iron end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Condition: Fine as factory reworked (see above). The rifle retains 60% of the factory blue finish, thinning in areas with high edge wear on the receiver as well as a small area of smooth gray patina on the bottom front. The lever has a smooth dark patina and the buttplate has a smooth mottled gray patina. The wood is very good with a couple of small scuffs on the left side of the stock and overall minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
