First Year Production Colt Model 1900 Sight/Safety Automatic Pistol
This is an original example of a Colt Model 1900 Semi-Automatic Pistol that was manufactured in 1900. The pistol retains the highly desirable sight/safety combination found on the approximately 700 pistols manufactured in the first year of production. In addition, the pistol has the early production matching serialized slide with rear grip serrations and the smooth varnished walnut grips used until mid-1900. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped, "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" ahead of the ejection port. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped, "BROWNINGS PATENT / PAT'D APRIL 20. 1897" followed by "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A." with a circled, Rampant Colt trademark stamped behind the left slide serrations. The pistol once had a commercial blue finish with casehardened hammer and sight safety.

Good. The once cleaned pistol has a smooth bright gray patina overall, with some minor handling marks. The right grip panel is cracked, otherwise the oversized period replacement grips are very good with some minor dings and scratches. The seven-shot magazine is nickel-plated and has limited traces of the patent marking on the heavily polished floor plate. Mechanically functions fine, but is a little stiff.
