First Year Production Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver
Manufactured early in the first year of production, 1861, with the top of the barrel marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT", the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT" and one cylinder flute is marked with the patent date marking. The barrel and cylinder were blue, the frame, loading lever and hammer casehardened and the trigger guard and backstrap silver plated brass. Matching serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, arbor pin and backstrap, and partial number "429" on the wedge. Fitted with smooth one piece varnished walnut grip.

Condition: Fine. The barrel has been cleaned bright. The cylinder retains 50% original blue finish with areas of smooth gray patina. There are a few minor dents and dings on the cylinder. The frame retains 20% original case colors with the balance having a smooth silver gray patina. The trigger guard and backstrap retain 85% original silver plating which has darkened with age. The grip is fine with much of the original varnish remaining, a few minor chips along the right side lower edge and overall some minor dents and dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
