First Year Production Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver with Fluted Cylinder
Manufactured in 1860, the first year of production, this revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the fluted cylinder. These revolvers appear intermittently in the first 8,000 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields cut for an attachable shoulder stock. Brass trigger guard and iron backstrap. The grips are smooth one piece walnut. The top of the barrel is marked: "-ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT.", "COLT'S / PATENT" is stamped on left side of the frame and the 1860 patent date is marked in one of the cylinder flutes. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, wedge, arbor pin and backstrap. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with one piece smooth walnut grip. Some of these will factory letter, many of which to Confederate retailers. Quite possibly the successful bidder will luck out!

Condition: Good. The revolver has a smooth mottled gray brown patina with scattered small areas of minor pitting. The brass has an aged patina. The period revarnished grip is fine, with some wear on the lower edges and a few scattered minor dings and dents. The barrel address is fading, but readable and all other markings are clear. The action is fine.
