Manufactured in 1855, the first year of production, this Model 1855 revolver correctly falls into the serial number range for the Model 1 (1-175). The top barrel flat has the early address which was only used on the early octagon barrels: "[asterisk] COLT'S / PATENT [asterisk]" followed by "ADDRESS COL. COLT / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. [asterisk]". The cylinder is roll engraved with the cabin and Indian scene and the matching serial number is marked on the butt, barrel, and cylinder. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and loading lever, and fitted with a smooth varnished one piece grip.

Condition: About good. The barrel retains traces of original blue finish (stronger traces on the bottom flat) with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The cylinder has a smooth gray patina with most of the scene remaining. The grip is fair with a large chunk missing from the front and a couple chips on the bottom edge, with series of dings on the bottom and a hairline crack on the right. Mechanically needs work.
