First Year Production Colt First Series Match Target Woodsman Semi-Automatic Pistol with Camp Perry Inscription

Manufactured in 1938, the introductory year for the First Series Match Target Woodsman. Adjustable blade and notch sight, with the barrel marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A ./PAT'D. DEC.22, 1903. AUG. 27, 1918. SEPT. 3, 1918." on top and "MATCH/TARGET" on the right, "THE WOODSMAN" on the left side of the frame and "COLT/AUTOMATIC/CAL. .22 LONG RIFLE" on the slide next to the Rampant Colt. The right side of the barrel is inscribed "Bob Slark/CAMP PERRY/'38". Most famous as home for the National Matches, Camp Perry, Ohio also served as a training center for military marksmanship instructors and a World War II induction center and POW camp. Bob Slark has not yet been identified. The magazine bears the proper 3-line marking, concealed and protected by an extended, full-wraparound right handed grip set. With a padded suede soft case.

Excellent, with 90% of the original blue finish, showing a gray patina on the grip straps and high edges, scattered spotting and minor handling marks overall. Grips are good as period replacements with mild chipping and pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
