Bengal Sultanate, Mughith ud-din Yuzbak (AH 652-655/6 /1254-1257AD), Nudiya Mint, Silver Tanka, AH 652, Obv: Arabic legend "al-sultan al-a'zam Mughith ud-Dunya wa'l din Abu'l Fath Yuzbak al-sultan Nusra amir al-muminin", Rev: Arabic legends "fi 'ahad al-imam al-musta'sim amir al-mu'minin" within a circle, mint name & "fi shahur sana ithnain wa lhamsin wa sittamaya" (=652) Hijri in the margin, 10.25g, 28.23mm, (G& G # B75), no test mark, choice quality, Exceptionally Rare.

Mughith ud-din Yuzbak, also known as Malik Ikhtiyar ud-din Yuzbak, was clearly not of royal ancestry, he was originally a slave, who started his career as Na'ib Chashnigir (deputy comptroller of the royal kitchen) in the household of Iltutmish and the same is found on his first coinage struck to demonstrate his loyalty to Delhi Sultanate.

This coin is a testament to Yuzbak who called himself a slave in his earlier coins and assumed an independent position declaring himself Sultan and adopting the kuniyat (patronymic) Abul Fath in the year AH 652 (AD 1254). It was struck from the land tax (kharaj) of Azmardan and Nudiya. His aim was to regain the territories lost to the Gangas of Orissa.
