Gilfillan 1877-1883 Treasurer U.S." On the 5¢ note he shortened it to "Treas. U.S." for want of space. All four notes grade Very Choice New and all four are bright and fully perforated. The four notes are Fr. 1228, Fr. 1240, Fr. 1279 and Fr. 1310 (Milton 1R5.3d, 1R10.3c, 1R25.3d and 1R50.3e). This is a really neat set of four exhibit-worthy, courtesy-autographed Fractional Notes. All four notes are plated in their respective positions in Milt Friedberg's Encyclopedia. Formerly lot 439 from the Siegel Auction of the Lilly Collection, September 23, 1967. Tom obtained them as lot 217 of CAA's MRF Collection in January of 1997 for $825.
