Continental Congress. May 10, 1775. Twenty Dollars. “Marbled Border” Rectangular Paper Note of a Unique Design Type. PCGS graded Very Fine-35.
Fr. CC-9. A “Key” First Continental Congress Twenty Dollars Revolutionary War issued note that is essential for any historical American Paper Money collection. In fact, this note’s design type was chosen to adorn the cover of the current 5th Edition of Eric Newman’s classic reference book “The Early Paper Money of America.” The note offered here is perfectly centered with four full margins present on both the face and back. This note is particularly attractive, being clean in appearance having bright paper and choice eye appeal. It’s unique rectangular design is printed on a special “Marbled Border” paper. The colorful “Marbling” swirls of color is seen at the left edge of the face side printed in typeset on this special paper that was provided to the Continental Congress by Benjamin Franklin. The holder states restorations for deft small sealed vertical centerfold splits that are expertly conserved. Boldly Signed in rich deep brown ink by Joseph Sims, Jr. One of the nicer examples for boldness, print quality, plus its superior front and back registration.
