First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver

This is a nice example of a Colt Single Action Army revolver manufactured in 1929 in the desirable 32 W.C.F. caliber. This was a fairly scarce chambering during this time as most of the Colt Single Action Army revolvers manufactured with the short 4 3/4 inch barrels were in the 45 LC or 44-40 WCF caliber. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "32 W.C.F." on the left side and the two line, three patent dates are on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, and on the left side of the front and back strap under the grip. The partial serial number "50" is marked on the rear cylinder face. The matching assembly number "948" is marked on the right rear of the frame and on the loading gate. The upper left front of the trigger guard bow has a number "1" sub inspectors mark over the Colt "VP" triangle proof. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and frame, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. Each grip panel is numbered to the gun.

Very fine. The revolver retains 95% original blue finish showing some minor muzzle and high edge wear, a drag line and light scratches on the cylinder, and an area of rust on the back strap and trigger guard. The frame and hammer also retain 95% original case colors with some fading on the high areas. The grips are excellent with light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
