Manufactured in 1937. The back strap is inscribed "John F. Johnson". According to an accompanying October 24, 1980 typed letter from an individual who purchased the revolver from Mr. Johnson's son, John F. Johnson was the Sheriff of Marquette County, Michigan from 1937 thru 1946 and reportedly carried this revolver for duty and on his trap line. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "32 W.C.F." on the left side and the two line, three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the right side of the grip strap under the grip. The matching assembly number is marked on the right rear of the frame and on the loading gate. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with black checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Very good as period refinished. The revolver retains 95% replated nickel finish with some pin prink type pitting on the cylinder and right side of the frame. There is a noticeable cylinder drag line. The grips are good with some moderate to heavy wear on the right panel, a few minor dings and for the most part crisp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is fine.
