First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1899. The barrel is stamped with the two line Hartford address on top and the left side is stamped "45 COLT". The frame is stamped with the two line, three patent date marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt on the left side. Matching numbers are stamped on the underside of the frame and grip straps. The assembly number "909" is stamped on the loading gate. Blue finish with casehardened frame and hammer and fitted with a one-piece smooth walnut grip. The included Colt factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length and finish with the type of stocks not listed. The revolver was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri, on February 19, 1899.

Good. The revolver retains scattered traces of original blue finish and traces of silvered out original case colors in the protected areas with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The oversize replacement wood is good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
