Crawford aka Jack, Sept 2nd 1889 with 50 Apaches on way to St Joseph Exposition”; also: “Aug 15th 89 On entering the Raton range after a ____ rain storm, inscribed in this volume without authority (?) See what a crimson glory binds the shadowy forehead of its west. While far below the Canadian winds, like a blue vein onbounty (?) breast”. (Signed with initials). “To Com L.
