TLS signed “FHL dictated to Marie,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, March 14, 1933. LaGuardia writes newsman Ray Tucker and his wife the day after his term in the US Congress ended to discuss his plans for the future and economic conditions under Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration. In part: “Frankly I miss being in the fray and I suppose mornings when I go down on the bus and read the reports of activities in the House, I go through the motions of objecting, yielding and arguing, as a prize fighter does when he is looking at a bout, or perhaps to put it more graphically, I feel as lonesome as a superannuated whore looking from the window of the old aged home as sailors of the Atlantic fleet disembark after being at sea for three months.” Intersecting folds, slight wrinkling, and a few spots of soiling, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a 1971 letter from Paul K. Carr (who would later serve as UACC president) to noted autograph expert Charles Hamilton, asking for Hamilton's opinion of the letter, and bearing a handwritten endorsement by Hamilton.
