Finely decorated and hand painted Civil War officer’s trunk from the 74th U.S. Colored Infantry, marked A. Saunders in front showing drab green paint with hand painted borders and sunbursts, approximately 28” by 16” by14”. Good condition for its age, showing some scuffs, small dings, mars, losses and a beautifully painted American eagle and flag over the name A. Saunders who served with Company D of the 74th Infantry. The originalinside shelf is included, the original forged hasp. A very interesting piece that would be added to with further research. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
